Couples Counselling

All relationships have their difficulties, and romantic relationships are no different.

There are a variety of reasons as to why a couple may need support with their relationship. Life stresses such as finances, jobs, or children can impact how people interact and communicate with each other. As we grow older together, we can grow apart, our identity can change or is even lost. Traumatic experiences can affect how safe we feel with our significant other, physically or emotionally. Our past relationships (familial, friendships, romantic etc) may have created repeated patterns that clash or impact how we behave in present ones.

My role is to provide you with a confidential space in which you can feel safe and supported in order to express how you are feeling, and to help you communicate with each other, so you are heard and understood, and can therefore move forward. I will ask to understand the beginning of your relationship, the presenting issues of today and what has happened in between. It is additionally imperative to understand your individual histories; we learn how to form relationships based on our earlier experiences, and therefore our past can influence how we experience our present.

I approach couples work with an open mind - I am not there to side with, or judge anyone. I encourage you to consider accessing couples work before it is a 'last resort', and to enter it with an open mind too, understanding that both people bring their individual issues into a relationship.

I will speak to you individually on the phone first to understand what issues you identify within the relationship, and how you are experiencing them.

I charge £90 per session, online or in person.
